One year ago. I sat, watching the clock. Ella watched Handy Manny and shared fruit snacks with other waiting room occupants. We waited together. Your dad dropped in, telling us it wouldn't be long. I think he bought some Skittles, and headed back to your mom.

They should've known Sadie. They should've figured I could not wait patiently any more. Because you knew.

We wandered out of the waiting room, down in the direction of your mom's room. We walked slowly. The second we stopped at the room, I heard the first beautiful cry of a perfect baby girl. Perfect timing Miss Sadie Mae.

Cute little mohawk hair, quiet, and so curious. I couldn't believe how alert you were. And perfect.

And today you celebrate your birthday. You are SUCH a big girl now! We can't wait to see you again, so we can celebrate and all play together! Grandma and Grandpa's house will be busy!
