We're learning how to pray before bed right now, and along with essential prayers for our kitties and Daddy's blue tractor, we talk about other people who need our prayers and thoughts. We pray for my cousin Jay and his beautiful family while he is serving with the North Dakota National Guard, awaiting deployment to Kosovo. We pray for our great-grandparents and their health. And as of this week, we are continuously praying for my Uncle Jon.

Jon and Debbie (my mom's sister) have 3 beautiful kids, Katie, Emily and Nick. (see photo for evidence... okay, that picture may be a little outdated -- sorry cousins and sisters, it was the best I had, especially if I wanted to avoid the junior high one in the stairway of your house... remember your overalls Sarah?) After weeks of no improvement in his health(feeling in general yucky, very jaundice), he was referred to the Mayo Clinic for further tests. After being admitted into the hospital, he had a number of major health scares (including cardiac arrest and bleeding) and is now fighting for each day, each minute. He needs a new liver, but he also needs to become stable enough to undergo the surgery. And without a functioning liver, it will be hard for his body to stabilize. (catch 22 isn't it?) They are not sure where the road goes from here.
And although in times like this I feel very helpless, I do trust that his life, that all our lives, are in God's hands. The best I can offer is prayer for peace and understanding. Prayer for guidance and wisdom of his doctors. And for love to surround their family as they deal with a medical crisis such as this. And of course, a miracle. Because they do happen.
UPDATE: He is not necessarily "out of the woods" but they are seeing positive signs that he will wake up! The prayers are working!!

Jon's in our prayers constantly!
