Happy birthday sis. I know it's about a month late, but I figured better late than never, right? And now since you're around more often, I figured I better get on track with my birthday wishes.
She taught me how to write my name. Crouched beside each other with a permanent marker in hand, she so elegantly wrote my name, explaining to me each letter as it appeared. With a quiet whisper, she encouraged me to do the same, but my chubby, 4 year old hand scribbled a rather poor copy of her work. When all was said and done, we looked at the masterpiece we had created, right on the side of our white dresser in our room. We probably even gave each other a high five.
I'm sure Sarah didn't really understand why she got in the most trouble, because after all, it was my name that was written, not hers.

She has always been the encourager in my life. No matter what I am meddling through, she has been there to tell me, "you can do it!" and is always there to compliment when the task is completed. From cheering me on in volleyball, to holding my hand through labor contractions, she is a constant in my life.

She is someone who listens to a recap of bad days, diaper accidents, and Ella's newest "thing." And we do talk, EVERY day. Whether it's a short and sweet conversation about who got kicked off Idol last night, or a lengthy dialogue of our beliefs on the American medical insurance situation, we have our differences, but that's the nice thing about being sisters (and best friends).
She is an artist, a marathoner, a writer, music guru, an excellent chef, sarcastically humorous, a medical professional, a good test taker, a leader, a wife, a mother, a daughter, and my sister.
Our big sister.
Love you!
