Today there was laughter, giggling sisters, splashing water, muddy toes, and princess songs. It is easy for me to see just how very blessed I am.
But inside, I'm struggling with the unfairness of the world.
Last Monday friends and family had to gather to say a very premature goodbye to a former teammate of mine, a life lost much too soon. 25 short years, with such a promising life ahead, so much joy and enthusiasm.
And sure, we were merely acquaintances who shared 4 months together -- but anyone who has shared seasons knows that they come with stories, life, and memories. The sting of a sudden, tragic loss comes with the problem of grief, too.
I know that life is fragile. That every single second is precious.
Early Saturday morning, the Cooney family said goodbye to our dear Poppy, Spencer's grandpa. Words cannot express how much we will all miss him.
I recently read somewhere that life was a series of finding joy, losing it, and finding it once more.
Life is a mess of laughter and pain, and is always temporary.
Rest in peace Hailey and Poppy.
May we all find our joy once more.
