Yes, I do mean a stroll on a horse-drawn cart.
Our pony Jackpot is multi-talented. Grandpa John has been working on getting a cart and setting up this nice little pony. It was a perfect afternoon to let Ella go for a test drive.
Well, technically Uncle Cavan drove, but Ella had a blast! They went up to Spencer's grandparents house to show off the new wheels. Spencer's grandpa remembers as a child seeing a family who drove a cart similar to this one to their country school everyday. Can you imagine "carpooling"? That wasn't too long ago either!
After the ride, Ella paid her dues and gave Jackpot a couple pieces of cake and patted his nose. "Good boy", she said. "Are you tired?"
As Cavan was driving away, I couldn't help but be very thankful for the life I am afforded. Never could I have imagined my kids being able to cart around in a horse drawn buggy! It is so special that we will be able to share this life rich with traditions and all sorts of unique opportunities. It may not be unique to those who have lived it their whole life, but from an outsider, it really is a special way of life.
We are richly blessed!
(And I had to take the opportunity to catch the grandparents with their two granddaughters!)
