Our fun furry friends

-------A few nights ago, after everyone was snug sweetly and safely in their beds (and I was perusing Etsy) I began to listen closely to the varied sounds outside my window. First, the poor mama cows were bawling for their calves. See, we've been weaning and shipping our calves for about the last month, and in the feedlot below our house sits about 200 head of dry (not pregnant) cows who are sorely missing their babies. (Do I sound like I know what I'm talking about?) As I sat I heard Leroy barking downstairs, and so I went down to see what all the ruckus was about. I peered out the window of the door and the moonlight provided enough light for me to see a little hand grabbing for a bag of the day's stinkiest diapers right by our door. (Trust me, not my idea of a midnight snack). Not wanting to alarm whatever it was that was right next to the door, I just decided to go to bed.

------- A couple of nights ago, as I checked out Etsy again (I'm telling you guys, it's addicting!) all was quiet. Until I started to hear rustling right below the office window. So again, I trekked downstairs to check it out. No Leroy this time, but there was a giant skunk picking through a box of outside garbage on Spencer's pickup. Now, I wish he looked like Pepe le Pew, but he didn't. He ripped and pulled and found whatever it was he was looking for and as I watched I thought to myself, get the heck out of here you stinky little bugger! He had a very dangerous looking tail, all spiky and warning of the hideous smell it contained. YUCK! But because Leroy wasn't barking and he wasn't really doing any harm, I again, decided to go to bed.

-------(Can you guess where this is heading?) Tune in tomorrow to read the conclusion...
