An apology to my mother:

Dear mom,

Since you took offense to my recent post about matching Easter outfits, I thought I would offer up a heartfelt apology. No better way to mend fences than matching granddaughters I suppose.

Reese wasn't crazy about my matchy matchy jammies, but really, as a mom, how could I resist? As I was snapping away at my two little girls, saying "Look at mommy! Look at mommy and smile! Look here Reesie! Ella - finger OUT of your nose!!" I realized something: I have become my mother.

And then, mom, it all made sense. I really do understand. I understand the matching/coordinating outfits, the crazy amount of pictures, the mile long bangs to keep hair out of eyes, the hotdishes, the reusing towels, and all the other things I used to wonder about you. It all makes sense now. I no longer ask myself why. (Except for asking how in the heck you ever found time to sew us all those clothes!)

Why? Because you're a mom. MY mom. OUR mom. And that's just what moms do. They can because it's their job.

Once I uploaded the pictures to the computer I felt pretty proud of my two matching daughters. Just like you probably (hopefully) felt/feel about your girls ALL THE TIME (right?). I smiled even bigger knowing I am slowly but surely growing up be just like my mama. I love you mom. :)

PS. If you still have those sailor outfits laying around, I thought it might be a good photo op with your granddaughters in a couple of years. What do you think? After all, you sewed those darn things yourself!!

(Check out THAT face sisters! Who does she look like?? :))
