A pretty violent windstorm sent me sneaking into Ella's room last night to close her windows. I quietly opened the door, closed the windows, then peeked at my sleeping beauty before I headed out. Barely being able to make out her profile in the glow of the nightlight, I peeked into the crib a little closer and tickled my fingers on her back, when "AHHH!" my fingers felt something much more furry than my little one's skin. To my surprise, a visitor had snuggled up for a little impromptu sleepover.
If you don't recognize the friend, you can read more about her here or here or here. And if you've ever had the chance to visit while we're playing with the cats, you may wonder just why this seemingly poor kitty would subject herself to an entire night with Ella. You see, Ella loves Charcoal more than any other kitty, and mostly because Charcoal allows a whole lot more lovin' than any of the other characters in our house. Charcoal is frequently carried around, wrestled with, fed cereal, and snuggled so fiercely with, one would think this kitty would have had enough months ago, when her little friend started walking. But this cat is very special, and for whatever reason, takes the good with the bad. I suppose forgive and forget is her motto. Forget about how just today, Ella attempted to use her tail as a leash. Forgive that she's missing a few clumps of her poofy black fur after a little snuggle time before Ella's nap. I suppose that's what friends are for, right?
And if you were wondering about Ella jammies, they are in fact her daddy's from when he was a toddler. They are a little on the big side though, and so you'll notice that sometime between me kissing her good night and her falling asleep, she seems to have weaseled out of the neck hole, but kept her arms in the sleeves.
Never a dull moment :)
So precious Bethany! It will be interesting seeing how Ella is with the new baby...I am sure she will be a GREAT big sister!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notice the jamas until I read the last part. SOOOO cute! I love that she is wearing her daddy's old jamas. When I brought Hartley home, my mom pulled out my first shoes and a hat I had that I'm going to post. Isn't that crazy to put our kids things that their parents used to wear?!
