Since I have started blogging, I have seen some pretty amazing things happen in this little big world of a blogosphere.
I have seen stories of strangers giving time, talent, and prayers to help other strangers in need. Need proof that there is a God? Here are just a few examples:
A young mother of four gets into a horrible plane crash with her beloved husband, escapes death and starts the road back to her old life.
A woman who has prayed for years for a child is finally blessed with a daughter, but after delivery of her baby girl, serious complications arise and they are now currently in the NICU nursing their baby back to health.
A Minnesotan mother, being 22 weeks pregnant with her 4th child, is told her baby is in congestive heart failure and will be stillborn. Today, that baby is a healthy 3 months old and enjoying growing up with his siblings.
Granted, these stories make me thankful for my health and my family and a very good Lord who creates miracles everyday. But they also inspire me to pray a little more for those who are not as fortunate as I am.
I don't have many talents to offer, but prayer sure is easy and I believe in its power, and so I come to this forum to ask for your prayers.
I happen to know this wonderful family. They are great parents to two beautiful girls, who are currently in college. Miss Rola, my sister, happens to be best friends with the younger. They are quite the duo, and have been at it since junior high or so. The wonderful mother, however, has recently been on a rollercoaster that they call cancer. After courageously battling and with a preliminary diagnosis of beating ovarian cancer, the doctors have found yet more cancerous cells. They are currently waiting to see what the next course of action will be.
So, I just ask for your prayers. Prayers for strength, positive attitudes, and the power of healing for Emilie and her family. The Holland's have a Caring Bridge site that they keep friends and family updated if you want to check out the whole story.
I know that everyone knows at least one person who is suffering. So, to compensate, my prayers sound much like they probably did when I was five years old, learning to pray with my dad.
"Dear God,
Thank you for keeping me healthy, happy, and well-fed.
Please help Emilie and her family. Please heal her and give her the strength to fight this nasty cancer and free it from her body.
Please keep baby Rockstar and her mama safe and healthy as we get closer and closer to meeting her! And sweet J's baby and their health!
Please help all who are suffering from the nasty diseases of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, especially my beautiful Grandma Marjorie and PG.
Keep my family and friends safe and comforted. Bless my sweet little girl as she continues to grow everyday.
And God, please help everybody everywhere who is sad, sick, lonely, or hurting. Please show them your love and grace as they walk through their lives.
Oh, and we love that sunshine. Keep it comin'!
In Jesus name,
AMEN"
So my friends, if you have a spare couples seconds, say a little prayer every now and then. To whichever god you chose to pray to. I really do believe in the power of prayer, and it really can't hurt! Someone is listening. And will answer.
OH! And another prayer request here if you're really getting into this whole praying business!
